To use a male chastity cage safely, you must prioritise proper fit and hygiene above all else, as these devices restrict movement and blood flow.

The first and most critical step is correct sizing. The base ring must be snug enough to prevent the penis from slipping out (a “pop-out”) but must never pinch or restrict circulation.

You should immediately remove the device if you experience numbness, tingling, or severe coldness, or if your penis or testicles begin to turn blue, purple, or any other unnatural colour, as discolouration indicates a dangerous restriction of blood flow.

The cage portion must also be properly sized, specifically being about one quarter to one half inch shorter than your fully flaccid penis. This ensures a full erection can’t be achieved, but a cage that is too long will allow movement, leading to chafing and pain.

Immediate removal is also necessary for any sharp, unbearable, or persistent pain that doesn’t quickly resolve.

If you have a Keyholder, establish a safe word and emergency key access beforehand.

For hygiene, you must wash the entire device and the skin underneath thoroughly every day using mild, unscented soap and warm water, using a soft cloth or swab to clean the ventilation holes.

Crucially, you must then completely dry both the skin and the device, as trapped moisture leads to fungal and bacterial infections; a cool hairdryer setting can help with this.

To avoid irritation from trapped moisture, you should always sit down to urinate.

Finally, for long-term wear, fully remove the cage for a deep cleaning and skin inspection at least once per week, and pay close attention to nocturnal erections; while some discomfort is normal as your body adjusts, do not ignore severe pain, as this indicates a need to adjust the fit.
